AA Breakdown Cover (wheel bearing)

Has anybody had success claiming for replacing a wheel bearing under the AA breakdown cover (up to £500 of cover). It's on our Range Rover not Disco. I won't bother calling the AA out if it's a likely rejection as it's going to cost in the region of £500.00 at my local indy when I could do it myself a lot cheaper.

The last claim I attempted (My first in 7 years!!) was rejected on a technicality.

Does the wording not say something like "unsafe to continue the journey", on that basis, unless it has totally clloapsed and the wheel wobbling about I would imagine it's not covered. It is a cheap warranty remember

I think the extent to which it is worn out will not be the issue. The list of 'we will not cover' includes wheels and suspension forks, nothing about wheel bearings.

But the AA one is a breakdown warranty, not a warranty that covers any failure, I'm not saying it won't, I'm saying I would be surprised if it did.

I totally agree. As with any form of warranty they seem to spend twice as much time trying to get out of a claim as they do in processing it!! So I don't hold out much hope.

Neighbour had the AA out the other day so I spoke to the chap that came out and he said if he thought a wheel bearing was showing signs of wear, he would sign off the paperwork because he would have no way of telling how worn it was, as on big 4x4's they tend to have no play in the wheel, just a big groaning noise, and they would always rather play safe than have the wheel fall off a few days later!! What he didn't know was if the breakdown insurance would play ball.

Just don't won't to waste everybody's time to have it taken to a garage just to bring it home again to do it myself.
