Accelerator issue

I've searched the forum, and cannot seem to find any clear thoughts.

For the past couple of days, when pressing the accelerator nothing happens, regardless of how harsh or gentle one presses the throttle. After the accelerator is pressed and depressed a couple of times it does eventually work.

When starting this morning, the accelerator did not function until about 10 attempts.

The car drives sounds and works fine, with no warning lights or restricted performance.

And touch wood, it's not had any faults or anything replaced recently which could be a contributory factor apart from a set of tyres.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Probably needs a pedal assembly. It’s all electric.
You could unplug it and reconnect to see if that helps

Faults codes should tell you something

If I use ( very rarely) my FBH remote to run the heater for 20-30 mins before starting, I sometimes get the unresponsive throttle pedal for 10 secs or so. I put this down to there being a temperature mismatch ie. a relatively cold engine oil temp signal conflicted by an almost fully warm coolant temperature signal. Maybe you have a problem with one of your temp sensors, either oil, or coolant ? If you can, look at the live readings of both, to see if they are realistic or not.

A faulty accelerator pedal sensor can cause symptoms such as delayed or erratic response, reduced performance, or even no response at all. Though I am not sure that's the main issue here, You should take it to a mechanic.

Update,

The throttle was changed as a replacement was £15 from eBay.

A couple of days later - restricted performance...

The front MAF sensor was replaced (the second one in our ownership) - and all is well.

Whether the throttle needed to be replaced remains a good question.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
