Air suspension help needed, again
Just realised I had posted my Original thread in the technical forum so starting again here.
History:
- Compressor a bit noisy but everything works ok. Looks like it was replaced a few years ago with a AMK clone
- Starts to drop over night so pull fuses and front end drops but back end stays up
- Planned to replace front valve block but before I could the front end dropped a bit whilst driving and threw a suspension fault. A few restarts of the vehicle fixed it and got it home
- jacked it up and replaced the front valve block after letting out a lot of air
Result: front end sat on bump stops and error codes C1131-92 (Air Supply) & C1A20-64 (pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir). Lots of fiddling and clearing of codes has resulted in C1A30-64 (Both switches pressed at same time). Gallery pressure never gets about 700KPa which I believe is far too low.
I have sprayed everything I can find with soap to see if there are any bubbles and tried listening for any leaks but found nothing.
I wanted to check the front air bags but cant extend them with the vehicle as it is. I tried bridging the compressor relay but that didn't achieve anything. Got about 200KPa gallery pressure and no movement anywhere.
So...................
Any other suggestions on what to do other than bite the bullet and drop a lot of money on a new compressor?
TIA

Anyone able to tell from a picture if this is a genuine amk compressor or a copy?
It looks like a copy, but you need to look if it is stamped AMK on the body..

Air suspension, the saga continues
Hey folks, back again asking for advice
Symptoms I was dealing with:
Suspension dropped noticeably over night
Started getting suspension errors after starting and the vehicle reached normal height
Driving along the front started to sag and took several cycles of restarting the vehicle to get it back up so I could drive home.
I have finally managed to get the suspension mostly working but still having problems.
So far I have:
Changed the compressor from the very noisy AMK copy to a second hand genuine AMK. This gave a noticeable difference in air output when bench testing
Replaced the front valve block
replaced some dodgy pipe joiners in the front airbag feeds that must have been fitted in the past to fix air leaks.
Sprayed everything I can get access to with soap to look for leaks
The result:
The suspension now goes up and down.
The back rises quickly
The front rises very slowly
The vehicle still drops over time if parked up but takes at least 24 hours to be noticeable
When starting up, the pump runs for ages even after reaching the correct height
I put the suspension in off road height and pulled the fuses. After 48 hours the result is that the front left has dropped by 25mm and front right has dropped by 35mm
Any suggestions on where to go next?
I am suspecting I have leaks in one or both of the front airbags but I haven't been able to find a way of inspecting them for leaks so any tips there would be appreciated.
Thanks

If in doubt, I remove the airbags and inflate them in a large bucket of water.
That will prove one way or the other if they leak1994 Defender 300tdi 110 commercial

Interesting idea! I guess I will need to concoct some way of inflating them once off.
Is it a big job to remove them? That the next bit of research I guess

Fairly straight forward.
Jack the front up and support on axle stands
It sounds like you already know how to disconnect the air lines
then they fit in place with a sort of bayonet twist
Once you've done the first one it's easy, can be a bit fiddly refitting, thats all1994 Defender 300tdi 110 commercial
