As always ur so very welcome , maybe at the end of the day after it’s all cleaned etc the height sensors may need calibrating but won’t know until the other items have been ruled out

Must confess thats how I did it by taking small steps so to speak on repairing things one after another step by step

Plse let us know how u get on

Well. I nearly made a big error tonight... Having read a few other posts and had a measure of the hub to arch heights, I attempted to recalibrate the suspension using my Hawkeye. One reason for doing this was that the front heights look pretty good at 467mm each but the rears were BL 471mm and BR 482mm - so both a little out from the ideal and not equal. Get to the calibration screen and it asks you to enter the current heights - did that and then it raises the suspension to off road and lowers to normal again... well, it should lower to normal. It just got stuck there. I pulled the hawkleye in the end and then got errors that there were no calibration settings in the ECU... Eventually I turned the car off, locked and unlocked and luckily it is sitting back where it was now (more or less). Both rears are about 10mm higher again so not quite right.

I will overhaul the pump and valve blocks and then try this again making sure it raises and lowers without issue first!

Failing at the first rebuild hurdle here. The bottom of the two rear hoses just wont come off the compressor. The pipe wont push the collet in so that I can hold it and pull the pipe out. Tried compressed air and some wd40. I can wiggle the collet but the pipe just wont budge. Any tips?

So much for a rebuild this weekend!!

There is a video on the PowerfullUK website on how to remove the compressor. Might be worth having a look at that.

Cheers Blake

I didn't cut mine (as they do in the video).

I've got a rebuilt spare compressor.

Push the blue collar in. While holding the blue collar in gently pull the tube. Tube comes out easy. Only the tube in the blue connector needs removing, don't unplug the orange one.

Thanks Naki.

I will take a look tomorrow. The blue connector has come out fine. Its the bottom one of the two at the back that has defeated me. 90 mins wasted this evening trying to get it out, but no joy. It looks like they cut them from the image. I need the car workimg on monday and dont have connectors if I do cut them so have had to give up for now.

Just as a suggestion, what if you disconnected the air tubes you can, then unbolt the compressor so that it is hanging by the air tube you are struggling to release. With it dangling you may then be able manoeuvre the compressor so that you can either put your fingernail or a flat edge screwdriver to push the release ring. It may just give you more room to release it.

Also had issues when trying to get pipes out in the past lead me to buy some pliers that made getting the pipes out considerably easier

In the past used pliers close to the fitting and a large flat bladed screwdriver to push the collet in , but these release pliers in the pictures made the world of difference

Hope it helps

Thanks both.

I've scratched the pipe up trying the pliers and screwdriver trick but with no joy, so I am going to put it back together and get some bit so I can cut the pipes and then sort on the bench. 4x4airseals do a kit for this bit its another £30! I am about a quarter of the way to a new compressor with the refurb kit bits!

Just a thought, are those air pipes easier to remove when de-pressurised? When I removed my compressor I had the car on axel stands and used GAP IID to totally let all the air out of the system. I needed it on axel stands to give me more room under the car to work on it.

They arent under pressure from what I read. But good thought.

I am away next week so need to leave this working (even if it is throwing the amber warning lamp on still) for local travel for the other half.

So, the pump rebuild is nearly complete. It would have all been done testerday if the baby hadnt been sick everywhere!

It seems in pretty good condition generally. Some slightly mucky bits inside. The exhaust valve itself has a little corrosion in the bores which I have cleaned up and will replace the seals. Cylinder bore looks good. There was some silica dust (about a teaspoon) on the air pipe side of the dryer unfortunately but i will blow things through when I do the valve blocks. Need to confirm the compressor is good first.

One small question. I had to cut the lower air pipe at the back of the compressor and replace the join to the inlet. When using pushfits to reconnect, do I need inserts in the pipes?? None came with the kit from 4x4airseals so I assume they are ok without?

Hi mate

Good to hear your making progress

Must confess I didn’t use inserts on all the pipes , however I did on the compressor in order to ensure the pipe was kept uniform along with those connections being extremely important seeing there the first exit point

Plus after I rebuilt the valve blocks and before re fitting them I vacuum tested teach one to ensure they were working properly , sadly I had to replace all x 3 as they kept letting by

I also used a smear of silicone grease on the outside of the airline pipes to aid them going into the fittings easily and reducing the risk of damaging the internal O rings

Hope that helps and plse let us know how u get on
