I havent used the autel but there will be an option in one of the menus.
Drive the car straight ahead then stop being careful not to move the wheel, use the option to calibrate the steering angle sensor on your diagnostics.
It should then show 0 degrees when the steering wheel is straight, if you turn the wheel lock to lock then back to the centre and its miles out again you have a problem with the sensor

Really haven’t got to grips with it yet. Weather is getting in the way.
Cleared all to fault codes. After a few runs it came up with a load of “lost communication “ errors. The only errors codes “c” were for the SRS one permanent, one historic!
Now the situation in words
Engine running
Steering wheel angle 181 degrees
Full left hand lock 240 degrees no warning lights
Full right hand lock -525 degrees on come EHB and ABS lights.
Engine off then back on =reset.
Drive of straight ahead. No warning lights until moving at low speed . ABS goes crazy then warning light comes on permanently. No power. On comes EHB warning light , power restored, on comes suspension warning light and suspension lowered to the stops! No special programmes available.
Car drives fine at this point.
When interrogating the error codes SRS fault appears but nothing for the ABS.
I would have thought if the ABS was faulting in and out it would show up. If it’s just reacting as normal then there is no fault but what is causing it to behave as it does.
Also when it read the codes for the first time there was a code for an error rhs wheel sensor ( historic) but after being cleared it has never come back.
Luckily (or otherwise) lockdown means the car goes nowhere and the weather is not conducive to working on it.
Anyone got any ideas. Next move is to get some live data to see if there is a speed sensor issue but not on the roads the condition they are in.
For the past few mornings my esc / abs would kick in on startup which would then go away and cause no issues which was a bit odd
Then manifested into the three amigo warning lights in the dash, autel told me the rear wheel speed sensor was playing up, I checked this with live data and it was continuously showing zero mph. I bought a new one from euro car parts for 24 and fitted it and all the errors disappeared and car drove fine
Strange thing is I now get an error saying the ride level controller cant communicate with the steering angle sensor module which didnt happen beforehand. I know the steering sensor itself is fine so the two must be linked somehow
Check your live data for wheel speeds first, I think that would be a good start

Having had similar problems before sorted by changing out an abs sensor will have a go changing out the front rhs one. Will give the live data a run beforehand and report back. Thanks for input.Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

A request.
Would some kind person with the unit get it to read the steering angle when the steering wheel is at straight ahead. Then the angle at full left lock and full right lock
Many thanks.Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

Has anyone used this tool to change the tire size settings (assuming it has that function)?
If so, was it an easy process or long winded?

Hi Spiderbaby, haven’t needed to use it, but, yes, it allows you to write the new tire size

Sod’s law. This morning up came the red warning light for the air bags. Had this before and Mike just cleared the error codes and all good. This time in diagnostics read the error codes and had two communication errors. Cleared the codes and all good.
As regards the steering angle problem convinced the yellow ring on the sensor is loose on the shaft. Once the weather moderates will get under the dash and super glue it back in position. Oh the joys of owing a D3. Pity LR didn’t use real engineers when they designed the damed thing. Software can only take you so far.Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Well eventually I worked out how to calibrate the steering angle sensor, so no warning lights and suspension off the stops. No thanks to the support help . All I got from them was how to log faults. Still can’t figure out how this was supposed to help! Bottom line is the unit has now paid for itself .really need to get into how to use it. Need some better weatherOnce you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

Mines playing up at the moment. Low range light flashing abs light transmission fault. Would be good for this kind of fault or useless? Thanks.
There is nothing for the transfer case or manual gear box that i have seen, but i have only played about with it so far. If it is ABS causing the other faults it should find a code at least.
It is definitely basic in comparison to the gap diagnostic.
Do you mention that you can unlock the FBH with this unit?
