Baffled - Rogue EPB Warning? |
|
With varying frequency (sometimes twice a day, sometimes weeks apart) I get an annoying red alert/brake icon on the dash with the message ‘Park Brake Off, Lift button to apply’ in the display which is a novelty as it’s when I’m driving! If I stop and apply/release the epb it clears and can be gone for hours, days or weeks.
EPB works just fine, no screeching, new rear brakes recently and correctly adjusted.
‘07 tdv6 Auto 170k miles.
Chafing wire? Sensor on the Fritz?
Thoughts from those with sage wisdom welcome

I keep thinking “have you checked your brake light switch?”
Hope that’s helpful if not. Someone with far greater knowledge will be here shortly to help

I put a new Brake Light Switch in about 18Mths ago, will give it a wiggle and see if it helps - cheap enough to replace to rule out though….👍

You will need to run diagnostics to pull the trouble codes. This message may be indicative of a communication issue with another module. I recently had this message when the EPM (electronic parking brake module) lost communication with the transmission. I haven’t sorted my fault yet, but the issue is almost certainly not with the EPM. In fact, I think mine has to do with the vehicle thinking it’s in neutral or park, when it is in drive —hence the prompt to set the parking brake. 2008 LR3 HSE, 4.4L V8
