'block' vehicle policy? Any experinces?

Hi all

SWMBO is expanding her business and the 'Kids' (both over 25) are going to be working in the business... we are looking at 5 vehicles (inc 1 LWB van, a F1 Commercial and my D3) all being used on an almost daily basis for works purposes.

So.. Is it worth it/possible to put them all under one commercial insurance policy?

has anyone got any thoughts/experience in this area?

The aim was possibly to simplify the insurance process and to save on the overall combined premiums..

Thanks

I did this a while ago (about 15 years) via the NFU; was OK at the time but, when the then SWMBO and I went our separate ways, there were 'issues' due to the NCB. WE had previously built up three full NCBs which were merged into a single policy, and then counted as only one after a while Big Cry

Situation may be different now but I'd suggest you check before committing Thumbs Up

Try www.fleetcover.co.uk - Maybe give Simon Carr a ring on 01942 765314. Tell him you've been recommended by Martin Bellamy.

I've told him you may ring.

Right did this 3 years ago so still quite fresh in my mind. What you are talking about is a mini fleet policy, all the vehicles are insured under one company, one fee but you are issued with separate policy
documents for each motor. Use a good broker as they can then manage any claims, downside is if you have a run of bad luck which results in 50/50 claims or worse your premium will get hit harder than on a individual insurance type policy.

Good points you can insure high priced motors cheaper but no NCB and you loose any existing NCB's after 2 years.

You pay's your money and you take's your chance Thumbs Up

You could do all those on one policy with one document - no need for lots of different ones.

I agree with your comment: "use a good broker"!

Single policy = standard fleet minimum 5 motors to be cost effective
Multi policy= mini fleet also cheaper when making regular changes to your fleet

Before fleet £4500 per year
year 1 £2600
year 2 £3100 after 1 50/50 claim Evil or Very Mad
year 3 £3600 after a fault claim ( no witnesses ) Twisted Evil
Year 4 1 being written off ( no witnesses ) god only knows!!!!!!!!!!!! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

All vans now have cameras now as fed up with speeding kids on little lanes and no witnesses!!!!!!!!!

Thanks All

Some good specific feedback and info.. Will get on the case tomorrow...

The LWB Van is Pink! So I will NEVER be driving that one Confused

Funnily enough SWMBO had our only neighbour drive into her on the private road on the way to the house. SWMBO had a cracked number plate but the neighbour had her Subaru written off!
As our neighbour drives VERY fast on the road we have fitted cameras in the Disco and the Freelander. I will also fit one in the Pink Van as soon as its on the road. One day I can see insurers giving discount for fitting these (if not insisting on them for bad/repeat offenders!)
