CB Radio

Hi guys hoping I can pick someones brains here... Idea

I've installed an Intek H-520 radio in my 2012 model Disco and am having problems with signal and static etc...

I had a magnetic mount on the roof but didn't like the idea of the cable scratching the roof so changed it to a

gutter mount fixed to the rails along the top of the motor angle ground the bracket and it fits like a glove.

Not sure if the coaxil cable is kinked or i'm not getting a good enough earth....So I've ordered an earth cable but

am not clued up enough to work out where or what to earth it too Whistle

Any ideas....

Or maybe someone out there with a radio fitted can give some advice.....Cheers Madmac....... Thumbs Up

Hi Brian thanks for that but I wont be able to go as I'm having a new kitchen fitted starting on Monday.

But I would be interested in further meetings.

Who and what is S.C.A.M and where do you guys meet sounds like fun.... Thumbs Up Cheers Gavin

Re: CB Radio

Your CB radio is pretty similar to an amateur 10m mobile rig. The primary source of information is k0bg's site:

http://www.k0bg.com/

In particular you want the antenna mounting page:

http://www.k0bg.com/antmount.html

and the bonding page:

http://www.k0bg.com/bonding.html

But I advise going through it all to get the requisite background knowledge. You especially want to pay attention to the fundamental difference between a DC ground and an RF ground:

http://www.k0bg.com/ground.html

Another alternative might be to find your local Amateur radio club and ask them for help. Warning: if you're in any way technical, it becomes an addictive hobby.
