As mentioned elsewhere, I too have found the dampers to be too soft, particularly the rear, with resultant bottoming out on occasion.
Are the damper/airbag units 'one piece' or is it possible/practicable to replace the central damper unit with one thats stiffer??
TIA Have a nice day!

HI Jamo
Did you ever get anywhere with this topic?
I have the same complaint, and seeing as I now have a "spare" vehicle, I am intending to remove the rear damper/airbag units and get them to a motocross suspension specialist for analysis. I need to find out if the units can be modified for more damping and control.

Hello Baben!
No, I didn't find anything out. There was a post by a Greek (I think) dude about some aftermarket ones, but I think it was deleted as being advertising.
I am very interested to see what you find out as I'm still not happy with the damping. Have a nice day!

One of those cases where a bit of advertising would have helped.
Well if there is anyone out there who sells this stuff i will make a donation to the site if i can buy a product that is suitable.
Jamo i will let you know once i manage to find a solution

Jamo,
Dampers or what the marketing people have renamed shock absorbers do not absorb shock at all they controle rebound on the spring or in our case air bag. If they were not there we would in fact have a softer ride but the car would bounce down the road like a pogo stick after going over a bump, That said they the dampers wont help with bottoming out, depending on their compression rate they may make it harder to bottom out.
Talk to a suspension engeneer first. They can piont you in the right direction , then see if the right parts are available.
Rob
Ps. If you can not find a suspension engineer in the West I can PM or email you a contact over here, He may be able to offer some good advice.

Yeah Rob, I know. That's the problem.
The dampers are not doing their job and are allowing too much bounce, making it too easy to bottom out. The car needs firmer damping. That's why I'm looking for alternatives.
Thanks for the offer, but I have no need for an engineer yet as I have no desire to alter the main architecture of the air suspension. Have a nice day!

If you have a close look at some of the pics on that post, you can see where the bump-stops are - yellow bits if I remember correctly. I reckon it would be fairly easy to increase their height as you reassemble the whole unit, if this is not already a part of the replacement unit. Once the Greek gentleman gets back to me it will be one of the questions.

Fellow listers Hi,
Jamo the heavy duty shock absorbers are firmer but not harder. They provide a much more controled ride.
The strange thing is that they give a softer more absorbing ride on road irregularities and offroad bumps, stones etc while keeping the car far steadier on the road at higher speeds and limiting roll and the bouncy feeling especially when the lower suspension height mode is selected.
They have exactly the same travel as the factory made ones.
Take care Pantelis Giamarellos

HI Pantelis!
OK Jamo, you have mail. Spyros has been in touch, and I have most of the questions answered. I am gonna order a set. Will post on "Africa" to see if anyone else is up for a set. Its a lot of dosh, but if they live up to the claims, it will make my day
Spyro's email address is on the previous post, but if anyone else wants the shocks, maybe send Pantelis a PM
