Interesting to compare the two options one being a 6mm ally plate the other an 8mm steel frame.

Discotech opted for the 6mm thick plate presuming that it would bend in an impact therefore not sending all the impact forces up through the chassis, also acting as a skid plate.

Worth putting diff protection on the christmas list IMO

Andrew - do you have any pics of the unit installed? I am searching for a solution for my "hanging pipes" after fitment of the long range tank and removal of the plastic shields.

Yep

How do I get my hands on one of those? Do they make them in 10mm?

Is it just me Andrew or do you have a big chunk missing from the guard now? I assume it broke upon impact?

Yes the vertical support broke off. This was only butt welded to the horizontal slider plate. The Mk2 will have angle welded into the joint.

Digging this thread up again ...

Any possibility of getting the custom built hanging pipes/diffguard-thingies produced for forum members?
I'm sure I won't be the only one who'd be very interested Whistle

Cheers,
Florian
