Did any Discovery 4 models come standard with coil springs?

My dad is looking to buy a pre-owned Discovery 4. On a recent visit, he was told by a seller that the vehicle he was looking at (2012 3.0 TDV6, not sure which model -- he didnt look) had been purchased special order from factory with coil springs rather than EAS.

I know that if I visit the seller and check for the existence of various EAS components (compressor, reservoir, valve block, air lines etc.) I could see if it was in fact delivered as "stock" without EAS, but I wanted to ask here before I bother with that!

I wasnt aware that any D4's came stock with coil springs. Does anyone have an idea?

I must say I've never seen or heard of a D4 on springs. It was available on the D3 base configurations but I don't think they had the terrain response as fitted to EAS models.

This might be a "tell tale" sign as to whether it's stock or not, but I'm guessing it's an aftermarket set up with D3 struts and arms. Either that or could it have been some kind of "special order" by the original owner?

Thanks for the feedback Smile

Yeah it doesnt make sense that one can even order a D3/4 without EAS because they dont have a headlight height adjustment "button" (like other coil spring vehicles do) so if you load a trailer on the back and the rear springs compress, the headlights are now shining higher than they should be (which is a problem that EAS auto-leveling normally sorts out by itself)

Musings of a mind that would rather be playing in the mud Wink Have a great weekend!

D3 was available on springs from the factory but as I've only come across one I can't remember what the headlamp setup was.

England

Don’t forget the opening poster isn’t in the UK, so it could well be that a D4 on coils might have been an option.

Yes, that's why I wondered if it was either a "special order" or an option available via the SA dealer network. Thumbs Up
