I initially thought the top icon was a Discovery in a garage... very apt I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Not 'done' anything to the disco today, but have scared myself reading the posts on here
Feel like i now need to go inspect every mm of the disco for impending doom!
But have ordered belts and tensioner - has a squeak on start-up - seems to fade when you start driving, only present on start-up too
It begins!

Added side steps. My new-to-me Disco 4, which I said I wasn't going to modify or mess with. Lasted a full week!

Thanks for the reminder.
Luckily it was done at 68000 miles
The PO - Bob, I met on here, provided the most comprehensive service history I've seen on any vehicle.
I've a knock on the passenger side wheel - greenlaning highlighted it, so I've decided to have all the arms and bushes replaced though unsure about doing it myself.
All the best

Started it up again and let it idle for a while.
Rolled forward and backwards to keep brakes free.
Think I’m mostly complete with the list for repairs that I can carry out before it goes to Disco Mikey in November for him to sort the rest.
Have a few body shops to call to see about getting the rusty sills and arches replaced then a respray.

Renewed the rear belt and tensioner (HPFP) today. A tad under 95k miles. After the new belt kept slipping off the cam pulley about 20 times, there were several points when I thought “Am I ever going to get this new tensioner on ?“ Had to put some cord around lower run of belt, and working blind, pull upwards in that VERY confined space, before I finally got the tensioner bolt in. Hands and forearms now very cut and sore. Hopefully I’ll never have to do this again. Thanks to Disco_Mikey for his write up on this

Went to the Land Rover Social Ardingly to support Sussex 4x4 Responce.
SWMBO used it to collect the bins from down the drive. First use it’s had in weeks. But I am prepping her this week for a long caravan tow.

I washed it. Well only the windows and lights. It’s a Land Rover after all!

Cleaned and ' nourished' the front leather seats. I'm not a detailer person , but used to do this once a year. I like to think it will help, in some small way maintain the value of the car. I haven't done it for a couple of years and was really surprised how much grime came off ( normally a lot of dye from jeans too), and just how much of the conditioner cream the leather soaked up. Perhaps not surprising given the heat we've had.
Now, if only I can summon the inspiration to do the back seats !Gary

Found out what gave me the dreaded EPB squeal last week. The LH side brake shield is disintegrating, and the debris have entered the park brake drum, causing the friction material to loosen from the shoes. This gave the module too long travel, which caused that terrible sound.
New ones on order today, so next weekend is planned out already
