DPF Full and 30 mph max speed

Currently in France waiting for Green Flag.

Drove down to Portsmouth crossed St Malo and drove 2 1/2 hours to the Gite all good so any DPF regen should have happened. Today after a short drive and lunch started the car and had an orange triangle with DPF warning. Within a few hundred yards it changed to Red and the message visit dealer to car was limited to 40 . Stopped and read the faults with IID and there appears to be a sensor problem. Car on restarting only does 30 now!

Any pointers welcome while Watford recovery

Is your IID up to date - had a quick search and Pat indicates forcing DPF something you can trigger?

Thanks for the reply. I doubt I have the latest software as I bought it second hand of the forum. Also have no laptop here to update it with. See what Green Flag say, should be here soon. The codes and speed of going yellow to Red in yards makes me think it is a sensor fault.

Very grumpy breakdown truck driver arrived, plugged in a code reader then drove it up and down the road before loading it on the flatbed and taking it to his Renault garage.

Would not even explain to a local who offered to translate what would happen. Now back at the Gite and hope to pick up a hire car for at least two day in the morning. Then see what Green Flag arrange for the car repair/ return to UK.

I had the ‘DPF Full visit dealer’ warning on the way home from an annual service at an LR dealer. Mine is a MY16 car. I went back and they advised taking it for a drive to clear it. They offered to do it for me, but I took the car out myself, got it up to temp, and within 30 mins it had cleared.

Did you have the yellow or red triangle. I have the Red and it doesn’t go over 30mph. The last 250+ miles have been at motorway max speeds.

Hi.
P2463-00 is actually a slightly the wrong description. (whilst the differential pressure sensor reads the different pressure across the dpf to determine it's full, & this fault code says circuit/range performance. It actually means the pressure is high becaue it's full.)
It should read:
soot accumulation Bank 1 (DPF full)

If it's amber, then drive above about 40mph as steady as you can until the light goes out.

If it's red you need to do a forced regen by using iid. If the function isn't on the tool, then update it & carry out the regenerate dpf. The engine temp figure, speed & soot content figure are displayed. Keep the temp & speed in the green, then watch the soot value fall until it's down to about 6grams (or less).

(You need a passenger to watch the reading to be safe).

That should sort out the issue assuming everything is working ok.

regards
Steve

Steve, thanks for the reply, however the car is now in the hands of the Green Flag system so I don’t even know where it is at the moment and tomorrow is Bastille day so a public holiday here. It was picked up and taken to a Renault garage but from what the assistance told me they were struggling to diagnose the fault and the car was going elsewhere, the nearest Land Rover dealer is 150 km away in Lorient.

When the fault first appeared, after a very nice lunch here in France I could only reach 40 mph foot to the floor. So no hope of a good ‘Italian Tune Up’

After stopping and restarting it was 30mph flat out. The U0447 code (invalid data received) which came up at the same time makes me think it is a sensor failure (DPF filter differential pressure). Nether code would clear when tried.

The yellow triangle was only on for a matter of a few hundred yards before the red triangle appeared. The vast majority of the last 300 plus miles from Norfolk to Brittany have been at motorway speeds so it should not need a regeneration.

I checked the Adblue tank level before leaving home and it was 6,000 plus miles range.

I managed to get a Citroen C3 hire car today from Brest Airport of two days initially so am mobile again but due on the ferry first thing Monday. So if the car is not fixed by midday Saturday wil have to rethink plans.

ISTR using the wrong engine oil specification can cause this situation, I stand to be corrected. Good luck with getting it sorted.

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Well just to close this one off, the car arrived back in the UK after about seven weeks from breakdown. So that will be the last time I use Green Flag!

The Indie changed the DPF differential pressure sensor and reset the faults. The dashboard warning stayed on initially but cleared after a short drive, now done about 60 miles and all seems good.

Hopefully that problem has been put to bed………
