| Driver Seat clicks forward and backward when driving?!! |

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the board after having traded in my Defender 110 SW for what I thought was going to be a step up in quality...but no luck just yet!! My 2007 V8 HSE has a little over 1'200 kilometres on the clock and here I am with a first annoying problem already.
I would have liked to know if anyone else experienced a slight movement with their driver's seat when accelerating, braking and cornering. The base of the seat seems to have 1 mm of play and actually feels like it has loosened from the rails and feels like there is a click right under the buttocks.
I've tried greasing the mechanism and God only knows how many bolts and screws I tightened without success  Could it be the base of the actual seat cushion and not the main adjustable seat mechanism it is attached to?
I would appreciate any help or comment you may have. I had Defenders since ten years without a problem...if problems such as this keep arising I might very well go back to one...

sounds like a replacement seat-base is in order to me, mine is in for this on Monday, something to do with the holes the locating lugs fit into being elongated or something..? and theeeeennn......???

I had this problem on mine, after checking all bolts etc, I discovered it was the mechanism and so removed the seat base. There was play in the electric adjustment mechanism. I removed the cable from one side and adjusted the 2 rails so they took up the play by working against each other. Sounds complicated by easy when you see it! D4 HSE

Hi,
I will probably call my dealership up to order a new seat base then. DiscoDuck, I would love to try doing it your way first though! Is it very complicated to take the seat base off and adjust the rail alignment?

Took mine in on Tuesday 2nd January, strange the dealer says they can't find a fault or the clicking / movement........ I've never heard that one before ............. not!!
Now that I can see its not me I shall be having a little trip back to the dealer later this week for a further go at getting it fixed. Discovery 3 SE Auto Zambezi Silver

The seat mounting rails are prone to working loose. Get the dealer to check these first - you need to take the seat out to do it.

This a great thread as I thought I was being paranoid having noticed some movement in the seat mechanism since new and the dealer saying "well it has to have some play in the mechanism", which the passenger seat does not have. Mind you I haven't been in the passenger seat often 
I shall be seeing the dealer on this one again in due course

Movement in the seat mechanism and my car has less than 2'000 Kms 
I have to take the car in to the dealership on wednesday but I already know the answer..."Oh we don't feel anything" or "it is within the tolerance levels"!!
I don't know what I will do if they cannot fix this problem. I can't drive a car this expensive and have to feel a click in my butt every time I accelerate or brake! Oh venerable Defender...where are you?!!

Well new seat base fitted today, rockin' seat now gone away! Thank you Lancaster Thatcham!
maybe the same fix might sort yours Moody? and theeeeennn......???

Thats exactly what had happened to ours. One trip to the dealer and it was all sorted....no more clicks.
