fitting a multi height towbar |

i know there are a few threads on this topic but has anybody found an easy way of stopping the rear chassis bolts from turning in their sleeves (inside the chassis ends) which in turn stops the bolts from coming out?
there is a small access hole but there is not enough room to get the mole grips in.i have been told that a regular trick is to drill a small hole in the chassis and into the sleeve and then you can stop it turning and voila out the bolt pops or enlarge the hole with a dremel and hold the sleeve that way.
which ever method the design is very poor.

Are there not 'flats' at the outboard end of these, that you can hold to stop it turning? At least there is on mine.(early 06MY). If that doesn't work, it sounds like the bolts may be corroded in, best of luck.

Nope
I solved it by raising & propping the car, then remove spare wheel - this gives you some space to work...
Then a combination of spanners on the 'outside' of the chassis to adjust & align the bolts (there's an outer nut & the inner (10mm?) bolt which is the one you want.)
Nearside of car was ok, offside was a right pig
Good luck - it will work eventually. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!
