Front A bar measurement help please

Was wondering , would someone do me a big favour and be so kind to measure the distance where the yellow lines are please in mm Bow down

I’ll be extremely grateful as will make life so much easier in order I can drill the holes through the bumper so they will line up with the impact bar brackets

Thank you so much Thumbs Up

Hi

Was very lucky indeed and got it off ebay , can’t believe the prices there now going for

Is part number VUB501210 , also managed to get a boot sliding floor off ebay , seems these items are getting harder to find now

Fingers crossed someone will be able to measure that bumper distance for me so can start in getting it fitted

Will keep and eye out for u Thumbs Up

Wouldnt it just need to be central with equal measurments both sides?

^ my thoughts too.

does it sit on the top of the bumper ? if so, just make it central.

if it sits with bottom aligned to a part of the bumper, sit it on wedges to achieve that then repeat the above. Very Happy

Indeed know ur right , but it would just make life a lot easier if I could get the measurements to save me trying to balance the A bar onto the bumper or trying to nudge it left or right to get the central position

As I’ve got one shot at it I’ll then know there’ll line up with the bolt holes perfectly

Managed to find a pic of the brackets that the nudge bar is secured to

It does as u say sit on top of the bumper , shame I can’t see any markings on the inside of the bumper to make life easier drilling the holes

Just worried of messing it up , plus will save me struggling on my own trying to line it up

Lol, ref the D5 style

Hi phil

Alas that was a picture from someone else’s disco

The very special brackets I got I’ve coated with Dinitrol to keep them well protected and they line up to mm perfect Thumbs Up Bow down

ok ... all the pictures make it clearer !

all you are after doing is creating 4 holes in the plastic of the bumper so the bolts pass through and screw into the plates that are bolted to the crosspiece ?

as the sides of the A-frame extend at least an inch on all sides around the bolt hole, you could drill an over-sized hole and it will never be seen when it's all assembled, and the A-frame will be in the right place as it's not actually attached to the bumper.

or have I missed something ?

No u haven’t missed anything , ur spot on Thumbs Up

Well it’s funny u saying about an oversized hole as I didn’t realise on the instructions it says to drill a 33mm hole

Must admit unsure why they specified such a large hole seeing its only a 10mm diameter bolt , unless it just for wiggle room so to speak

Or I wonder if it’s so the bumper will fit over the brackets as they have an up stand ?

Thks again

Hi @ Ruarz

That’s fantastic , thank u so much as indeed that’s extremely helpful Thumbs Up Bow down

Alas when I bought my nudge bar it didn’t come with any fittings , only thing I’ve now got to get are the 4 x bolt sleeves , wouldn’t it be nice in the instructions if they specified what length they were

Once again very grateful to u, thank u Thumbs Up
