Front mounting points confirmation please

Hi Chaps,

My D4 in on order and I am currently purchasing bits and bobs for the dealer to fit to the vehicle before collection.

I have come across a D3 A bar which I would like to fit onto the D4. I have attached a pic of the D3 fitment, if you guys could please confirm if the mounting points are the same under the D4?

I do know that some welding/fabrication maybe required which is not a problem. If someone could be so kind to take some pics of the underside of the D4 that would be great.

Any info greatly appreciated Wink

Wouldn't that be illegal to fit to a post 07 car?

Not really as the bar has been passed by the EU being suitable to fit.

In that case I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to establish whether that particular bar is also EU / TUV approved for fitment to a D4, and whether it will fit.

I certainly wouldn't weld or fabricate any bracketry to hold it, as that would pose all sorts of liability issues in the unfortunate event of a collision.
Actually, no, it would be quite clear-cut.

As for the aesthetic ...

Bull Bars
Statement
This document provides general guid
ance and advice on the legislative
requirements in Great Britain relating
to bull bars fitted to vehicles. Every
effort has been made to ensure that it is
factually correct but recipients should
check with the producers of
this document if they ar
e unsure about the validity
of a particular regulation afte
r the date of publication or
if they have reason to
believe any part is not correct or is now out of date.
General Requirements
It is not illegal for vehicles to be fitted with bull bars, although the Department
would not recommend their fitment
unless it has been shown, through
compliance with specified safety standards, that they do not pose an
additional risk of injury to pedestrians
or other vulnerable road users.
There are no plans for legislation to requi
re bull bars that ar
e already fitted to
be removed. However, since 25 May 2007, it has been an offence for bull
bars that have not been approved as compliant with those safety standards to
be sold. Approved devices will carry an indelible ‘e’ mark (example below).

You have a very good point Dave, I shall contact the manufacturer and take things from there. Wink

Narpy had one of these he took off he probably would've sold you.
It was for a D3 though, but assume mounting points would be same on a D4.
Give him a shout and see, if so you might be able to cancel your order......
..... and put the money towards some brain surgery. Wink
