The Forestry Commission has required proof of off road cover for access to Cannock for many years. I guess they don't want to pay the extra on their policies. They are also very strict about allowing off roaring of their land. Far more than most other landowners. Tony

Surely your insurance company would have to cover you on a green lane as arn't they supposed to be byways as such and therefore taxable roads but just not properly maintained? D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

If you make a claim for damage caused on a green lane what "name of road where accident happened" do you fill ?

Also just a thought what happens if you park on a field for say an event and you have a collision/bump when leaving, are you covered? LOW range should only be used in situations where low speed manoeuvring is necessary, such as reversing a trailer or negotiating a boulder strewn river bed! the cheaper insurance policies dont cover green lanes (elephant, admiral morethan and several others). at least they didnt when I contacted them - they thought "Off Road" meant SORN !!! Rolling Eyes

It does make you wonder what would happen if old granny who drives down a gravelled lane to walk the dog and have a nice cup of tea was to have an accicent !!!

Land rover Insurance have been great Thumbs Up and £250 cheaper than NFU. no hassle when making a claim, in fact I didnt even have to fill in any paperwork and any offroad driving is covered (public or private land) Duncan
