Gutted - Insurance says NO!
Having moved into the second week of ownership I was all set to go on the Cannock Chase 4x4 tour (£50) on Sat 3rd November.
Having spoken with the forestry Commission Park ranger to check for spaces where he informed me proof of off road insurance is required. Ok fair enough I spoke with my Insurance company (AXA) who informed me that they would not cover the vehicle for OFF road use. OK fair enough if said what about if I get another/extra policy for day, month or yearly cover just for off road use. My insurance then replied saying that it would invalidate my insurance to have two policies, where my reply is why insure an 4x4 vehicle that is not permitted to go off-road????
Gutted - does anyone know a way to bypass this other than cancelling my policy and finding something less stupid?
Im itching to put the vehicle in the environment where it excels ! strange that you need insurance - never been asked for that before on an event!

I do have offroad cover via NFU but I doubt I'd be able to find it on something like insurance certificate or schedule. Apart from general sales blurb (not specific to my car) I'm not sure how I could prove it to them. Is this the Forrestry Commission's way of saying we do such things but not having the hassle of actually doing one?

Ah but is it on the paperwork, could you do this event by showing your car has it?

ISTR needing to prove insurance for the Keilder event few years ago, that was just normal car insurance. Possibly the FC guy has gotten the wrong end of the stick?

I think the OP has got the wrong end of the stick, they want to see your insurance bert to prove it is a roadworthy car not to coveryou for damage unless I am much mistaken Don’t worry it is supposed to sound like that...honest

How so, you have two policies (AXA + A.N.Other) for two activities (On road & Off road) - therefore you are only covered by one policy at one time... so no invalidation. Q.E.D.
Where insurance gets pick with double cover is there seems to be a clause in there that says (paraphrased) "we will insure you for risks unless otherwise insured" - if both policies cover the same risk and thus both opt out via the same clause, you are stuffed!

Yeah that's what I said but they were that sure they confirmed the query with a supervisor (I'm not convinced). I mean when you do track days such silverstone you have to get track day insurance which is perfectly fine, what's the difference with taking a vehicle on a Tarmac track with insurance cover and taking a vehicle on off road?
