Hdc fault, special programs unavailable, suspension lowered |
|
Well took my disco out for a run this morning, turned a left corner and thought I heard what sounded a brief abs type noise and then bong and the above messages, no power loss just awful ride with the suspension lowered. Pulled up, switched the car off etc and then the car drove as normal for a few miles, again abs kicked in briefly followed by the bong and lights on the dash. Again no loss of power. I haven't managed to have a good look as the weather here is horrendous and my garage is blocked with my trailer. Jarrod

I don't sorry. I neeeeeed to get one though . It's not EGR related is it? Think I remember reading someone had the same issue. I may be wrong though.

i'm more than rightly wrong, but this sounds like a steering angle sensor problem Just remember:-

Knowing my luck it's probably related to all sorts. I'm definately of the opinion that the 83000 mile bargain I bought is now firmly in the "lemon" category. Whatever is wrong this time adds to the dodgy steering, bumpy front suspension issue, bad gear change and funny noise on change up etc etc.
it's not put me off the car though. It's just another challenge to be met. I won't let it beat me. I will get her square. Eventually. Jarrod

You might have something there given the twitchy steering issue I'm having too. I will get a mate "who owns a garage" to clear the fault codes and then see what crops up again and re post.

How is the battery?
Discoveries are notorious for throwing all manner of faults if the battery is slightly below par. Doesn't need to be too low so as not to start the car, so difficult to spot.
Try putting the battery on charge for a few hours and see if the fault repeats. It sounds counter-intuitive, but often works.

Cheers discomadness, hope you can solve it, it could well be worth having the angle sensor re set as from reading on here it throws up them faults.
As lemonsfan suggests the battery could be low Just remember:-

Well. When I started the car yesterday she did seem a little sluggish to start up. I suspected the battery was a touch low.
Not long after I bought the car I did a detango on the headlights and left the sidelights on by mistake and drained the battery. At the time I didn't realise I'd left them on so thought the battery was on its way out so I bought a new Bosch 100a/h I believe it was from euro parts as I was going on my honeymoon that day !
I don't use the car often so it's very probable that it may be down a bit. I still have the original battery which incidentally doesn't look very old so I've fully charged that and I'll swap them over to charge the new one and see what happens. I think while I'm at it I will check the charge rate and make sure the alternator is doing its job.
I'll keep you guys posted. Jarrod

Thanks narpy,
Member rusty who is local has very kindly offered to have a look with his nanocom at the fault codes for me so as soon as we can tie up I'll report back.
Narpy incidentally I notice your from Stockport. I may be a bit dopey here not knowing how big Stockport is but we upgraded to heating system in quite a big social club in Stockport, cracking bunch of guys we were working for. I can't remember the name of the club though. Jarrod
