Help - Fully locked out of car!

Help - I seem to be fully locked out:

Both fobs have stopped working, they both read 3.1v - 3.2v

Battery in the car is quite new, red light on dash still flashing... had just driven it 30miles or so doubt it is the battery

Manual unlock cylinder turns both ways but it doesn't unlock the car... it feels kind of spongy turned clockwise - I've never tried to use it before so could be broken.

The only thing I can think of is that I accidently left the sunroof cracked open the other night and it rained... it actually set the alarm off. I drove it around today and it was fine but it is now stuck in my local supermarket carpark.

Any ideas... I am thinking of going down there tomorrow with a hammer to break a window if it's the only option.

I have breakdown cover but what can the AA do aside from recover it to my home or a garage that will charge me ££££.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

The mechanical door lock sounds more seized than broken. You could try flooding it with WD-40 in the hope that some will work it's way down to the linkage. That's what tends to rust up rather than the cylinder.

The door barrel is stiff when turned. Consider needle nosed or big plyers to help and prevent key case breaking. You will know when activated as the alarm will trigger. Then open door and press unlock on Center dash. Put key in ignition and turn on

It maybe worth contacting the AA. If you do it now, you could be home intime for tea tomorrow Laughing

As for the root cause. Search green wire splice

Thanks for replies.

I walked home in the end and left it there, it was too cold. It must have dried out a bit in the sun this morning as I was able to unlock it today,

I've got a dehumidifier running in there now to dry everything out. Hopefully that will fix whatever the issue was.

RE the mechanical lock... the key barrel was fine, I removed and checked it. The mechanism behind was indeed jammed. It is soaking in anti-seize now.

Cheers.

Glad you managed to get back in and home Smile
One word of warning, What supermarket did you leave it in? Reason being Asda at least have started issuing fixed penalty notices for any car in their car parks after closing time, not sure as to the rest of them

It was a Sainsbury's.

I found the root cause, it was green wire spice by the passage seat. Water ingress. I cut the splice, soldered and heatshink as documented on here somewhere. All is well now.

... I also replaced my leaking sunroof and all drain hoses.
