Help needed - Low power in drive (2.7 TDv6)

Evening all,
Long time lurker here and have used the info here to fix several faults with my Disco 3. However yesterday a new fault occurred and I need assistance getting to the bottom of it.

Disco 3 2.7 TDv6

Given it was -8C in the morning the car struggled more than usual to start. When it did eventually get going everything was fine for about three miles, then there was a sudden loss of power whilst travelling at around 50mph which limited the speed to 20mph. I pulled over, turned the engine off, checked the car over, checked my fault reader and it didn't show any codes. Started again with no issues. Drove for another 8 to 10 miles and returned home without further issue. Went to start the car again later (still -1C), no issue and started easily. Pulled away and there was an instant loss of power. The car struggled to move and couldn't get over 10mph. In neutral it wouldn't rev over 2500rpm, works fine in reverse, revs and works fine in low ratio box. Still no faults on my code reader.

EGR were already blanked off before I got the car
New battery fitted two months ago
New oil & filters fitted two months ago
Air filters checked and they're dry with no blockages
MAF cleaned again made no difference
2 stroke oil has been added to every second tank of fuel since I've owned the car

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm a bit stuck atm.

Thanks

Has auto gearbox linkage become stiff with the cold weather? Might be worth lubricating the linkage to see if that makes a difference. It is easy to get access to the auto gearbox linkage, to lubricate it, without the need for ramps, from under the vehicle once the tray under the transmission is removed.

Water in fuel likely frozen/clogged filter/lines.
Exactly same happened to me.
Try replacing the filter and see how you get on

Thanks for the replies.

@Zig - Linkage isn't stiff, everything seems to move easily enough.

@timmyt79 - Fuel filter is pretty new but I've ordered a replacement anyway just in case. Will swap it out and see how it goes.

@EvilSi - Thanks for the feedback.

The auto gearbox linkage gradually becoming stiff has crept up on me a couple of times and it is only when I have lubricated it that I realise how stiff it has become.

Just before Christmas (temp was down to -4 deg C) my vehicle went into a limp mode (speed reduced to walking speed) with the message Engine System Fault coming up on the display. Turning the engine off and starting it again cleared the message, but on increasing the revs slightly it would go back into a limp mode and the Engine System Fault message reappeared, a couple of days later when the outside temperature was much higher the problem was still there. However, changing the fuel filter cured the problem and the vehicle has been ok since then.

So, I hope in your case changing the fuel filter is also the solution.

Bit of an update.
Many new swear words were born during the fuel filter replacement but the job was finally completed. Low pressure fuel pump also seemed to be faulty, that was removed and connectors cleaned up. Once put back together, everything started fine and the car set off like a scolded cat. Got a couple of miles down the road and it went back into limp mode throwing numerous errors.

Crawled back, plugged it back in and cleared the faults. Everything went fine again for another five mins and then it threw more errors and now won't clear or come out of limp mode at all

Really grinding me down now and I'm not into chasing any more electrical gremlins after ridding the car of several a while ago and I already have a project car I'm working on. I think ebay is calling the disco...
