I have recently had an engine replaced by Land Rover under warranty after an engine failure at 27,000 miles. Cost of warranty claim to Land Rover was £11,200 not including Vat

Has that price come down? And how much is fitting at JLR labour rate?
The previous price was £10,165 + VAT + fitting
At a main dealer, that's likely 25-30 hours, at £150+ p/h
Last one I priced up was £9k Inc VAT for a genuine LR engine with a 2yr warranty My D3 Build Thread
Not cheap, but very effective due to the back light that can be turned in to a warning light when the pressure goes below or above the threshold that you set. I have ours set to a normal blue background that turns red on alarm trigger. So its not hard to miss if you mount the gauge next to or on top of the instrument binnacle.
As Kevin mentioned, on our test engines, we measure in 4 places. Pump, filter housing (after filter), right head and left head, bit at the end of the oil galleries. When testing customer engines, we use the 2 place rig that measures at the filter and where the normal pressure sensor goes (left head, end of gallery).Joe

Just reading this - I have just bought a RRS 2015 with a 2 year warranty from Land Rover - are you saying that the Land Rover won't cover this failure. I was told by the dealer it is the same level of warranty as a new car. Is this not the case - I am a bit worried now.15 3.0 RRS HSE - Silver

LR warranty, which isn’t actually provided by LR, exclude design faults and as LR have said it’s a design fault then they won’t, and haven’t, covered it. Welcome to the Catch 22 insanity of “LR” extended warranty.
The dealer is talking out of his hat, being polite, he can’t bind CCP (I think they do the warranty) into covering it. Ask if they, the dealer, will underwrite the crank issue it it comes up and the warranty co says no, I’d bet a glass of vino and a hairy wine gum (from down the side of the seat) that he’ll decline.

Thing is, JLR have not stated that it's a design flaw/issue, but due to the TSB issued from JLR about "Enhanced Customer Handling", CCP have taken that as a design issue...My D3 Build Thread

If they were just to accept there is a problem in the UK and replace broken engines if a failure happens, but to put their heads in the sand for a known problem will effect the brand more than the cost of fixing them.
I had a BMW with a Nicasil engine liner problem - the car had done nearly 100k well out of warranty they fitted a new engine block no questions asked.
Come on Land Rover treat the home market with some respect and give the car a 10 year warranty on this type of engine problem - the least you should do.15 3.0 RRS HSE - Silver
