Land Rover approved warranty

What is the general consensus - is it worth extending this or do people just take the risk? I'm new to Land Rover and bought my discovery 4 about a year ago with 6 months original warranty remaining and 6 months approved used warranty. It's soon coming to an end and I'm not sure what to do. Is it likely to pay for itself or in general would I be better off keeping the money and paying myself when / if things go wrong?

My tuppence worth:
I have just sold my D3 and if I ever come back to LR ownership it will always be with a warranty- far too costly to run from your own pocket when things go wrong. My personal experience- others have had far better luck. And taking into account your location I doubt if MM could take on the repairs if things start to go wrong so you will be faced with a haul to Killin or further.
bite the bullet and get piece of mind with a LR warranty! . I paid for it three times over.Downside I suspect that you will have to go to a dealer to get it serviced and the warranty maintained.

No - just a VAT registered garage:
"It is a condition of this Warranty that your vehicle is serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. Throughout the warranty period a franchised Land Rover dealer or a VAT registered garage should carry out all servicing and repair work. Services must be carried out within 500 miles/one month of the intervals specified by the vehicle manufacturer, whichever comes first."

Yes - read the small print.
There's a bit in there about modifications which may invalidate the warranty if you don't notify them (but if you do, they may not accept the modification and may not give you the warranty).
