LR to drop extended warranty prices
Hi all,
just a "heads-up";
got informed from Beadles LR while enquiring about Extended Warranty today (I know, a little early seeing I've still got 6 months worth but hey-ho ), that LR will be decreasing their Extended Warranty pricing by c.10% as of March 1st (that was for the option including LRA). They have been spot-on with everything in the past, so no reason to doubt them.
Couldn't give you prices as it is mileage and age dependent and the price guide I got was for my particular case, but to those who are thinking about it now, may be worth waiting another fortnight...

Hmm interesting - I said to my dealer last week that I had heard that the price was coming down. I got the official puzzled look and the comment that he thought they were more likely to go up than down. Still I can afford to wait a little longer and will then ask again.
if vehicle needs suspension work then they will pay now for 4 wheel alignment if required
also will cover catalysers, like i have ever sold one TLO has left the building.......

still not worth the paper its printed on.
Anything the service dept finds won't 'be covered', in my experience anyway.
If you get it 'free' fair enough no way i'd pay for it though as the stealers will attempt to milk it out of you anyway.

Hmm, I know where LR Extended Warranty has been very good. Pricey maybe, but not as pricey as all the bits that were replaced under it.

That has been my experience as well when the sat nav unit self destructed

I guess it a statistics/probabilities decision: does one pay say £900 a year for another two years, to cover what could potentially be:
-EPB failure
-Tailgate struts/lock failure
-ARB bushes failure
-Tensioner pulley failure
-EGR failure
-Stereo/SatNav failure
-Anything else that may happen as well
(I have been fortunate not to have experienced any of the above to date )
or to take the plunge and fork out for parts and labour when they appear...
Personally I have not yet balanced things out. With previous cars, I didn't bother but at LR prices for parts alone I'm not quite sure... Let alone the time to do the work myself is no longer available or even feasible to get it done

If your expecting that lot to be covered under the select extended warranty think again mate. The EGR's and ARB bushes are definitely not...speaking from experience.
You just have to remember that the really expensive stuff is covered. It would be nice to get more (anyone know of one that gives more) but I wouldn't like to think about gearbox or engine replacement with out a warranty. Regards, Trev.

Anyone know if LR did drop the Extended Warranty price in the end and if so by how much?

I can confirm the quote I received for my vehicle was indeed about 8% lower than what I was told would have been the price before the decrease, but have no means of confirming the "original" quote as it's the first year I am considering the extended warranty.

Confirmed prices changed here from 1 March 10. Compared to the figure I was given in Dec 09 it has come down almost 10%.

I have just had the LR offer, Approved cover, £760 or 10 payments of £76 if you include LRA £880, @ £88 for 10 months.
Select cover, one off £610 @ £61 for 10 months LRA included £730 @£73 for 10 months.
The approved cover just lists what it does not cover, so it looks very comprehensive.
I may consider the approved without LRA and join the AA.

If you already have family cover AA or RAC don't bother with Land Rover Assistance..they are mainly your bog standard AA man. My battery ran down last week while I was away...long story...and they sent out a perfectly competent AA man and he sorted me out checked my alternator and battery load. Alternator output voltage was 15 volts which he thought was high but didn't have a clue as to whether it was okay or not and wrote on the job sheet that he advised me to have it checked. If that had been the LRA lads it would have been sorted on the spot, so I'm dropping that from the cover next time.
By the way anyone know if 15 volts alternator output is okay.. Regards, Trev.
