Yup, I've found the air intake sufficient in keeping the intake relatively clean and dry from dust and water/mud ingress from splashes Thumbs Up

Errr, except when it ripped off the A-pillar Rolling Eyes Wink

Thanks but it must help at least a bit with water depth

Question I am thinkking about the snokel or some sort as well. I'm not thinking of getting it wet to the roof but would hope that a sealed version would at least get me a bit deeper, surely it would do this??? I have looked at the seals on the electronic connections and they look fine for light water splashing, if not quick submersion.

The LR drive instructors couldn't give me a diffinitive answer either but did revert to the electronic seals and that they were ok for the job.

let me know your thoughts please.

'Safari' make a proper snorkel Thumbs Up

Make sure you seal the ECUs in the engine bay though, especially the one behind the battery box.

There is no way that I would try this without a snorkel - splashes or no splashes. Clearly the G4 snorkel is more than simply a dust boot.



The LR3 is well-designed to ford in high water without modification in the engine bay. Granted if you want to run in some seriously high water (turn-on-the-windshield-wipers-high) and then stop, maybe you want a completely sealed snorkel and seal the CJB in the battery bay too.

I mean, "Whoa!! How much deeper do you want to drive?!?"



More than this and you're a U-boat commander! (ok, maybe at this level you're a u-boat commander...)

ECUs electronic gadgetry aside, it wouldn't be advisable to take any petrol motor windshield wiper deep because of the ignition system. I don't think you'd be able to go much deeper with a proper snorkel, it might give you some extra peace of mind though. Last I heard, Safari doesn't make snorkels for the petrol models. Not sure if anybody has tried modifications to it?

Pic 1 is for real though. the water depth at the deepest part was about 1m. with a descent bow wave and room for the water to get away the standard RAI worked well. what was very noticable though was that the air intake grill is positioned in the exact spot where the trough of the wave is the shallowest Thumbs Up , great design by LR Thumbs Up
