A few minor bugs.

Just been up in the frozen north of my homeland for a couple of weeks and had experienced a few minor bugs. Firstly the compressor (which has been getting slightly noisier as time goes by) was really noisy one morning. Don't know if it was the temperature (-5degC) but it went back to being mildly noisy next day. Wife wasn't sure if it was safe to drive but did the trip to 1st mutt walk no problem with no warning lights.

Also the heated screen cleared the left side of frost really quickly but the driver's side was much slower with some stripes of frost remaining where the elements seemed not to be playing. Anyone else had this??

Anyone any thoughts on these???

Derek

PS Hope y'all had a great Christmas!

Tis booked in on 3rd! They say they have never replaced compressors apart from where used as jacking points by mistake! Also got suspension rubber boot thingy come off, and something else that I've forgotten the details of. Anyone have details of any TSB covering compressor failure, I find waving an A4 sheet with a TSB on it focuses their attention!

In my last TD5s which both had heated windscreens there was always one or two elements which seemed to be slower or just didnt work. Didn't think it worth getting the screen replaced (with the potential associated problems) just for that as they couldn't guarantee that every element would work!

The screen in my D3 seems ok so far, but I haven't had any major frost for it to clear yet, just some light stuff which it did very quickly.

This seems to be a bit more than few missing elements, had that in D2 as well & was no problem. When defrosting the passanger side cleared in about a couple of minutes (or so) but driver side was still mostly frosted up after over 5 minutes. There were a couple of bands that did not clear at all that were abut 2" wide. Unfortunately did not have my camera with me but will take some pics next time.

That's what they call themselves! I'll speak to the service manager on 2nd, he tends to be bit more clued up.

My first car had 3, so did my parents, all around 6K mark, the new one has had no such problems and neither has my parents. I seem to recall 10 was the most anyone had - but I've not heard of any going in a long time. I thought the enhancement replaced a lot too.

Ah, remembered what the other bugs were. The settings (speed warning, mpg or ltr/100km) was resetting itself. I'd switched the speed warning off ages ago & half way up to Aviemore it started bonging at me when I exceeded its limit. Went into the settings & sure enough iot was back to switched on. Weird!

Were you using the same key? Only ask as I found that my speed setting was different depending which key I used (changed the settings on both keys now).

Don't think so but had both sets with us but will have a play around to see if that might have been the issue. Also had a weird locking "issue", had unlocked all the doors, had opened the tailgate to put dogs in but LHS rear side door was still locked. Ah what fun!

Well a few new bits are bing added to Mrs DSL's car: new airspring (rear LHS), new compressor & prob new front screen (as predicted by AndrewS!) and a new washer bottle. Few other things have not been looked at so the list might grow.
