Missing brake wear sensor connector?
Front brakes were flagged on the last MOT a few months ago as an advisory but not a fail, so was waiting for the warning light to come on before replacing, only for the front driver's side brake to be down to metal a couple of days ago.
Bought new disks and pads, took the wheel off and found no brake sensor wire. Maybe the last person to replace the brakes before I owned the car didn't bother? Anyway, replaced everything, clipped the wire in up to the top and now... can't find the socket?
From what I've read, it should be on the loom at the top of the wheel arch towards the cab, but there's nothing there. See photo - the other sensor connector is there (middle of photo, is it the speed sensor?). All the wires go into the bulkhead in the top right of the photo and the earthing bolt is just to the right of that but not in the photo.
Checked the other side, but wheel not off yet, and that does have a brake sensor but, from trying to get my hand in behind the wheel arch, it seems to connect near where the cables go through the bulkhead. Will have the wheel off tomorrow to replace disk and pads that side also.
I presume that there's not just one sensor for the front? Is it actually on this loom or somewhere else? Could it have got caught somewhere or dropped down somewhere? It's a 2008 Disco 3 HSE.
