| Mounting a Satnav in the Sat NAv cubby hole. |

I've just bought a Garmin Nuvi 255W and very nice it is. As I have an S model Disco I don't have an integrated Sat Nav screen but I'd like to mount my Sat Nav in the same spot. Thoughtfully, Garmin supplied me with a shiny disk with a sticky side which I attached to the side of the cubby hole. It seemed to go on quite nicely. Unfortunately, once the Sat Nav suction cup was attached the disk just fell off. I also tried to use those double sided sticky pads that you can use to attach numberplates but that only lasted for one hour longer.
I need something a bit more "industrial" in strength which doesn't damage the car. Araldite is the final solution but is a bit extreme at the moment.
And before anyone asks why I don't attach it to the windscreen, well that's a bit "chav".

you also need to make sure you remove any grease/contaminants first as anything will eventually fall off if you dont

I would also try using some of that industrial strength Velcro tape that they sell in most hardware stores. The adhesive strips on the back of that stuff sticks like  to a blanket and the two halves 'velcro' together strongly. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

I bought another mount for my tomtom and screwed it to a piece of wood that fits snug and its never moved even off roading or if you have a suction mount you could cut some glass to fit in the space

If the mount won't stay cut a piece of perspex to the shape of the hole and stick it in place with skicky pads. Fits well under the mat as well! Ben

I bought these from ebay a few months ago and they stick my TOMTOM mount down very firmly and I've not had a problem ( it uses a 3M pad so sticks well ) coincidentally I've also got a 's' model so you should have no issues with this, I also fremoved the dash surround so I could hide all the wires - it's well worth it. There are several posts on here explaining how to do this.

You could also try my solution - a piece of thin plywood, cut to shape using the rubber mat as a template - spray with a satin black finish and glue the mount to it. Mine has been there for over a year - including off-road with no problems - and perfect reception. I was taught to be cautious.

Pretty much similar to above, I used a piece of perspex under the rubber mat and fitted the suction mount for my TOMTOM to that. Then I just leave the mount fixed, and attatch the TOMTOM when needed.

I used a peice of perspex that was a sliding lid for a wooden presentation case for a bottle of Fonseca port purchased from Majestic Wine! I used the mat as a template and cut the perspex to size by by scoring a line with a Stanley blade and snaping it over the edge of a workbench. A few seconds with a belt sander finished it off. It fits well if you put the suction cup right at the back of the perspex.
I also ran the power cable up behind the dash. I just gently prised off the silver plastic fascia and then did the same to one side of the dash that was underneath. I had to cut out a little nick in the cubby hole edge so that the cable would fit. This was hidden under the mat, so no problems there.
Port was nice as well.

What Harlequin says . I covered mine in false vinyl (leather) in a grain that more or less matches the vinyl dashboard cover. I also put in an isolation switch for my TomTom. Did you think I would leave you crying,

I'm thinking of locating the Nuvi in the cubby space, so would like to get a view of how other folks have achieved this.
