Not finding phone - but bluetooth is working - SOLVED

My 2012 D4 used to connect to my phone no problem, however it now won't find any phone whatever I try.

The bluetooth is working as I can stream music from the phone and also if I try to connect while a call is in progress it will work through bluetooth to the head unit (I can hear and speak on the call). I've tried multiple phones and I can see 'Land Rover' on the phones bluetooth list. Interestingly my wifes Evoque had exactly the same problem appear at the same time, bluetooth works but it won't find any phone, but I can see 'Range Rover Evoque' on the phones bluetooth list.

This all started as my daughter used to connect her phone to listen to music while another phone was already paired for phone calls. On both cars we can bluetooth music but it won't connect a phone for calls, phonebook etc.

Just in case anyone else has this same problem. It has been solved but the cause is not clear.

My local independent couldn't update the infotainment software so it was seen by a main LR dealer. They couldn't get any phone to connect but confirmed the bluetooth was working.

The software was up to date, but they forced a re-install and it soved the problem, its now working as normal again, finding the phone and playing music over bluetooth.

One interesting point is that my wifes Evoque has exactly the same issue, and the only thing in common is that we both have iPods permanently connected to the iPod socket in the centre console. Since disconnecting mine my infotainmrnt has connected my phone as normal, and my wifes has started to see a bluetooth sound connection (but not connect the phone) so it may be something to do with the old iPods.
