Hi all, I stole a few ideas from this forum and then modified it slightly so thought I would update as it works really well.
Brodit mount as per above recommendations but without the extension. Very easy and non destructive way to fix the mount to the car but wasn't too keen on the look of their mounts for the phone connection. I also cycle and already have a quad lock case for my phone so decided to buy a quad lock mount and stick it to the brodit face. This way I can easily connect my phone to the bike and the car without changing the phone case.
