Plug identification please

Hello all! I don't know if you've ever tried to identify an automotive connector but it is a bit tricky.

I need to identify what type of 2 pin plug is used on the brake pad wear sensors. I've looked on a couple of websites, mouser, automotiveconnectors, but I can't see anything that matches the plug on the wear sensor.

Does anybody know what type of plug it is please?

From the electrical manual:

Martin can probably sort you the relevant connectors etc if you PM him.

Thanks so much, that looks like the one. I've no idea who Martin is but a quick search shows the plug is available for about £3.00; the PITA will be the postage is probably more than the part itself!

Anyway, appreciate the help Thumbs Up

Why bother with the plug, the wear sensor is only a small price. Well it is in Australia.

Hi Martin! Guess you da boss then. Pleased to meet you

Globetrotter, you need to see it a different way; some kind soul who previously owned my D3 has removed the plug from the ends of the two red wires under the wheel arch liner so I can't fit the new pad wear sensor, so I need the plug to put on the wires. I suspect when the brake pads have been changed at some point in history the person doing it didn't know how to replace the sensor and just pulled/yanked or otherwise butchered the plug to the extent the wires snapped at the plug.

Anyway, have ordered a plug so it will be one more seemingly innocuous detail corrected so my D3 journey can continue!

Looks like I was over-optimistic in my expectations Embarassed

The plug/housing/receptacle turned up, and it does indeed correctly connect to the pad wear sensor BUT my new plug has no pins in it!

HELP!

Can anybody point me in the right direction so I can put wires in to my plug please.

After a bit of searching I have identified the plug and pins. It turns out it is a common connector and putting 968405-1 in to Google yields numerous results, mostly for BMW, Mini and Mercedes.

Anyway, that wraps it up, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Terminals on their way.

The issue with a lot of eBay etc listed parts is that they aren't genuine, they are far Eastern copies, normally poor quality.
