Price and Fitting of Driving Spot Lights

I have been quoted by a number of Land Rover dealers exorbitant prices for the supply and fit of two driving
spot lights. Like £250.00 fitting and about the same for the lights and special brackets. They say the front
bumper has to come of is this right? Question

Hi coletruck31,

Welcome to the site Thumbs Up

You may be better posting this in the 'Maintenance & Mods' forum, where I'm sure someone will be along soon who can answer your question.

Good luck Mr. Green

Hello Coletruck and Welcome to the forum!

Can't comment on the price, as ours were already fitted but I would say that if you have Xenon headlights, the Land Rover spot lights make very little difference, apart from making the D3 look like a proper Land Rover Smile

If you don't have Xenon lights, I'd spend the money on those instead, and if you do, I'd ask around about some of the alternatives that folk on here have fitted that are brighter and more waterproof.

Also, I can't recommend highly enough one of the forum sponsors, 10forcash. Iain is an independent (and very expert) mechanic who does this kind of installation work, as well as servicing and repairs to a very high standard, and charges very reasonably.

There is quite a lot of work involved in installing the spot lights, as they should be wired through to a switch on the dashboard, so they don't always come on with main beam.

Well you can purcase them from Nick @ Yeovil Landrover, aka The Large One, and get Iain 10forCash to fit them for you. I got a bargain on ebay for my driving lights, I think £60 ish, and paid nowhere near £250 to get Iain to fit.

Definately, go for either Nick to supply n fit, or source ebay ones, and get Iain to fit.

Jason

Ps, welcome to the site sir

I agree, but Iain makes it look sooooo easy. He makes up his own wiring looms for the driving lights, and fits a switch in a great position.

Jason, that doesn't surprise me! Our EPB has worked flawlessly since he worked his magic on it.

That reminds me, he did say it was worth putting some brighter bulbs in the LR lights - I'll add that to the list of things to do on Monday.

Off Topic Looked like you had a great time out in Surrey with Neil & co. Couldn't make this one, but I'll definely be along later in the year with my trainee navigator!

Hi Iain (10FC),
sarumlight says that you advise upgrading the halogen bulbs. Do you mean that both the high/low beam & the high beam lamps should be replaced, or just the high/low?

What replacement lamps do you recommend?

TIA,
Peter
