Thanks wiggs that is realy helpful
How hard was it getting the door off?
looks like the tweeter is a Harmon Kardon. but what quality? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

First time took door panel off took about 10 mins. The only bit i was concerned about was the door handle cover , just wasn't sure how it came off .But like most parts on the disco , a quick pull done the trick.
Second time i took the panel off was less than 5 mins (didn't connect the door handle cable correctly the first time )
As far as speaker quality is ...well im very impressed with the sound.
I have the Hi ice harman kardon system (8 speakers). G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I've only got the base stereo.
Hense the desire to change the speakers. I am presuming the speaker size is the same as the base. The grill looks the same. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

to remove the panel look at this thread

(just one thing ..there is an extra screw behind the oval land rover bit on the door)
or look at my gallery for positions of all the screws G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Tahnks wiggs.
All I have to do now is find the right speakers. I did post to an existing thread but I would like to know if anyone else has replaced the base speakers and with what, maybe new thread?
ps why did you take out the head unit etc.? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I removed the sat nav unit to identify the 3 inputs on the back (for dvd ,reversing cam etc).I know it has been taked about before but its easier when you see them for yourself.
Stereo was removed just to see what connections etc were on the back ...just being nosey i suppose..
I like messing with stereos , speakers etc so was just seeing what my options were. G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Depending in how fussy you are about sound quality you may need to put in a new heas unit as the the treble is accentuated on the OEM an needs turning down. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
