Glad you got it to work Chris.
Worthwhile making the video.
Interested to hear that you got a new blade. I had the one in my replacement key cut successfully, at my risk, for £10 at Timpsons. I understand that there a number of duff blanks around.
The AP200 is not locked to your vehicle and will work with any Landrover with an OBD2 port, as that is the manufacturer you opted for for your free subscription.
It is however locked to your account and I suspect just your phone so it will not work if you pass it on with the car unless the new owner pays up for their own subscription, which would require an annual payment.
I reckon that you are in profit with the AP200 already, a really impressive piece of kit for the price.

Hey all
Just a quick one..
I’m hoping to stash a spare key under the chassis somewhere in a bag wrapped up safe. In case I lose my normal key in the middle of nowhere (again)
Would it be safe to do so or can it be a bad idea for key copying / scanning or something?
Or maybe wrap it in foil or put it in a metal tin maybe?
Or entirely a bad idea?

I don’t think D3 keys can be scanned like that. Or at least people don’t bother.
But if you put it in a metal can you are avoiding it and keeping dirt out.

In theory you could scan a key but only when pressing the buttons, the immobilser chip could also be scanned but you would need to be within an inch to scan it so i think you would be safe.
The only problem i could see is that the battery would go flat in the key so make sure your passenger door lock works. Andrew

Thanks
Yeah I was thinking keep some spare battery’s in car so I can break off the old (already half snapped) rechargeable battery.
At least I have reduced chances of problems.
It’s already triple wrapped up and ready to go somewhere super hidden
Passenger door lock is up next on my list to fix! Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7
