Republic of Ireland Motor tax & BIK

Lads,
I am self employed. Currently I pay 30 % BIK on a car.
I have read that people are converting 7 seat Disco 3's to 5 seat commercials to get the better rate of road tax.
Does anyone know if this also covers BIK i.e. Could I drive one of the converted at 5% BIK?
If not, how difficult would it be to source the bits needed for turning a 2 seater commercial into a 5 seat commercial?
Please excuse such basic q's. I have never owned a disco, I figure while I am self employed would be the best time to buy one.

Thanks in advance.

Cormac.

Hi Cormac,

Just wondering did you get an answer to your question? I was looking at doing the same. Thinking of buying a 7 seater disco4 and removing the last row of seats. Before I do I wanted to know can it then be taxed commercially in the ROI?
