United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Metropolis LE Auto Barolo BlackDiscovery 3
[For Sale] Land Rover Discovery 3 Metropolis

221024-313

This is a 2 owner from new, Top of the range limited edition “Metropolis” With seven seats and a Panoramic roof. Only 2 other models of this car for sale on Autotrader.

Yesterday whilst travelling, the engine seized and will require a replacement engine. Sold as a non runner (will require a transporter), with no warranty implied, hence the price. However this car is too good to scrap and will make an ideal donor for a new engine.

A Discovery that has driven between London & an Oxfordshire Estate. It’s first owner (15 years) is a ‘known’ individual whom has had a member of his staff using the car for his Estate duties - as such the car has had a ‘money no object’ service history spent on it.

Reading through the extensive service records stamped and also on paper format carried out by James French 4x4 in Oxfordshire the car has had at least three cam belt changes, always been run in proper tyres, Pirelli, always had brakes and front arms when required .

The car has enjoyed a steady life, not been off road, hasn’t been driven hard, hardly a chip or mark on the bodywork, the carpets are exceptional too. In honesty about the only wear is to the side of the drivers seat and even that isn’t ugly. Has rear entertainment, this is the cheapest Discovery 3 Donor you will find in exceptional order all things being equal and at the price point - on a set of practically Brand New Pirelli Scorpion Tyres and has had cam belts replaced the air suspension works well and the air con is ice cold even on a hot day ...

Full Book Pack Set, service Book additional invoices that are extensive and only a single key. Full service history, Excellent bodywork, Black Full leather interior - Clean Condition, Tyre condition Excellent, Four wheel-drive, Metallic Java Black, Panoramic roof. Actual mileage up until yesterday 250k.
Current MOT Till May 2023 and full service less than a 1000 miles ago. Priced to sell at £3000 send me a pm or reply if interested. More photos in gallery, Thank you.

obviously i dont know the condition of your car, but this one has genuinely had a main dealer, money no object life.

the other 2 models i found for sale with the same spec on autotrader were between £8 and 13K. whether thats realistic for the marketplace is anyones guess.

ultimately its worth what someone is willing to pay.

Thanks for your feedback anyway.

your discovery mite be worth 4k running with that amount of miles but blown engine not worth 1500 pounds .....or even 1k strip it maybe get 2k in spares
Ive got one the same with a blown engine @219k with FULL LRSH .Then it had a new engine off LR and only got 34k on new LR replacement engine before it blew up .....just over 250 k

Sorry to say, but however good the service history is, its a 16 year old, 250k, non runner. Sad If you get offered £1000 take it and run.

Your best bet is to strip it, or if its that good, keep it and fit a donor engine in and run it yourself. Thumbs Up

Sorry if its nor what you want to hear.

I had a new engine as it had just been serviced by LR .....a new engine is 10k complete plug n play or bottom end and retro fit all your other parts ect off your scrap engine is 5 k plus labour to retro fit parts plus 2k ......7 k done dusted no point wasting money i say ..

2nd hand engine ??? low miles on a d3 engine that can be proven from breakers 2k plus another 2k plus retro fitting parts ect/ new belts service ect ect 5k done dusted ...still a lot of money .

Mechanic doing it for him self 3k worth it just about but high miles still

I can't help thinking that at some point, someone is going to figure out how to convert these to electric propulsion. At that point, immaculate but failed engine cars such as yours will suddenly make sense and be worth every penny of that asking price.

Tesla powered D3, now there's an appealing thing. Come on Mikey Very Happy

Until then, sadly have to agree with Moo

Is this still available as I may be tempted to swap the engine out of mine into this one… my engine is sound, as is the rest of the car, it’s just the suspension that I broke. Alternatively, you could buy mine and make my wife happy…
