Still kicking out black smoke (getting worse) |
|
Morning all,
So she's been chugging a bit of black smoke from purchase in January, blanked the EGRs (also since blanking she whistles, is this just air whooshing through as no butterfly?) seemed ok, minimal smoke, then smoke started to come back, so replaced intercooler hose, no splits in the old one once it was off.
When the hose was replaced, there was ALOT of oil around the intercooler hose at the bottom on the outside (going to check it later to see if still happening)
When I accelerate, it's almost like you can feel a bubbling sensation, then she shoots off and kicks a cloud of black smoke onto the car behind 😳.
Does feel a bit sluggish, MPG is ok, no dash warning lights (I've probably just jinxed that) no codes to indicate anything, just ones relating to driver seat, the heater, and a height sensor.
Cleaned the map sensor, it's clean but looks a little corroded/worn.
So I'm thinking, the smaller hoses have a split, actuator rod stuck, cracked intercooler?
Is there anything else?
Many thanks D3 SE 2007 - My new problem child

Try and find the whistle. Probably a leak resulting in black smoke.
Around the inlet at the top I guess
If you removed the EGR butterfly flap, did you push the rod back in

No! Not the rod, we were on a mad hunt for it yesterday, thinking it should have been put back in there. Have the butterfly but no rod to be found. D3 SE 2007 - My new problem child

Well you have seal the 2 holes with some sealer (eg black roof stuff or white silicon ) if you can’t find the rod.
Let it dry overnight before running engine

Ok will do that this eve, plenty of silicone knocking about, (had to silicone all the plug holes and sides under the trims that go down the windscreen sides as the little pop in clips were all broken and letting in water and sending the car crazy in heavy rain) D3 SE 2007 - My new problem child

So OBVIOUSLY I jinxed it when I said no dash lights, yesterday she felt lumpy driving it, got on to the M26 and the dash came alive with the same faults as when she went crazy a few weeks back, transmission fault limited gears, No HDC, parking brake fault, suspension lowering and dumped herself into limp mode, so had to pull on to hard shoulder, re set, pulled away did it again, pulled over re set, luckily speed limit was reduced to 50,got to m25 40mph all the way, never been so grateful, then I booted it, she had a choke, a huge black cloud, zoomed off and not a peep for the next 50 miles.
Got back home, put the rod back into the EGR valve and no more black smoke! went for a test drive and she was pulling like a train.
Went out today, all happy, no snoke, did 10 miles and parked for a few hrs drove home, swept down the hill round the corner, put my foot down to go up the hill and all the faults come back, so limped home (to the sound of my 5 year old saying MUM just get a new car!)
Plugged it in and we have
P117D-00
Fuel volume regulator contril exceeded max control limit
P0191-23
Fuel rail pressure sensor range/performance
P2290-00
Injector control pressure too low
Now, I don't want to say HPFP out loud to my husband yet, alternator and battery are all good.
I've had new tyres, valve blocks, re built compressor so suspension actually works now, could it need an alignment and steering wheel sensor re set?
I've found Hazel motors in Chatham, if anyone has any experience or could recommend someone Meday area (ish)
Sorry I've blathered on, banned from talking about the car this evening at home ðŸ¤ðŸ˜† D3 SE 2007 - My new problem child

I don’t think you need alignment / Calibration.
If the former is required you tend to get grinding / brake noises
