Terrafirma upper load shelf depth
Hi folks, I have messaged a few companies asking for a depth measurement of the upper shelves that they sell and only one has replied... Flat Dog. Does anyone have a Terrafirma upper shelf and could confirm the front to back useable depth please ? Why can't Terrafirma put the dimensions on the website !!

Hi Gareth, re shelf depth :-
EXTERNALLY front-to-back it's 30.3 cm. There's a lip extending forwards from the top of the front edge which brings it to 32.5 cm.
INTERNALLY, due to the lower fold-back lip (rear edge which is LEFT side on the photo), the depth is 27.7.
Guess you COULD slide something thin beneath that lower lip, where the internal depth is 29.5 cm, and the clearance beneath/inside the lip is 1.8cm.
It's well manufactured steelwork, stout. Shout if you'd like more data ))

Hi Kevin, that's a great comprehensive reply. Ben from Flat Dog has said their "no dog guard" one is 43cm deep so probably a bit more useful. Hoping for a positive reply on availability from 4x4Overlander re their hinged basket.

Yes, certainly have a look at the hinged basket.
Got mine from Brendan (4x4 Overland) and definitely one of the best additions I’ve made.
I’ve added two switched led strip lights to mine.
A bright one at the rear (for use in lighting up the drop down tailgate area - esp for food prep/cooking when camping)
Also a switched dimmer one to the other end (for night use when sleeping in the D4)
And still enough headroom for adults in the rearmost seats.

Just a +1 vote to the hinged basket! I'm not sure of the make, but I got mine second-hand from Nigethecat on here and it works really well, with no conflicts with the my dog guard (or dog!).

I filled in the request for "notification when in stock" for the hinged basket and also emailed direct asking about the likely hood of them coming into stock. No reply yet and would wait 2 or 3 months if I know they should get some. Will give it a week for a reply and if not will try ringing.

Be aware that they work very well with the half height barrier (as Worms has) but clash if you have the full height cargo barrier (as fitted to my commercial) due to the angle being different..I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
