Standard 2yr warranty on used cars

Apparently as of next month LR are introducing a standard 2yr warranty on second hand Discos (not sure if will apply to full LR suite of cars). Does this mean LR are more confident about their product or it simply gives them an excuse to charge more for 2nd hand cars on forecourt?!!

Overall, I think its a positive development. Gives the buyer more comfort purchasing a used car.
Next step: LR please introduce a standard 5yr warranty on new car purchases!

Strange how the UK follows & doesn't lead..

In New Zealand second hand sales (by dealers) are regulated:
- they have to have registration & are regulated by rules.
- they have to offer as a minimum a one month warranty that is far reaching & eliminates the lemon situation (it bears down as you just get out of the yard
the more usual warranty is 12 months & I have found quite good & comprehensive (for me they swapped the radiator on a SAAB 900 V6 2.5l, then the hoses, cam belt tensioner & some daft things with false warning lights.
I am told this because NZ has used vehicles that are on the whole much more elderly than other places not unusual to see Austin 1800's Rover 2000's Triumph & other BL cars in daily use....

....the call for a five year warranty on new LR's & RR's is a good one & would to me give everybody the confidence to buy & have....& for LandRover would ensure the owners & users had to have dealer servicing which obviously would have to improve a few notches (read thread about oil overfill http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic123721.html)

Its ridiculous that Korean makers offer 5 or 7 years...if LR did this it would put them well ahead of the european "competition"...
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

It may be five and seven years but I'd rather have the three years cast iron that LR provide, you'd be surprised how many parts fail at over three years which are not warranted and they get out of with they "Wear and Tear" suspension parts that have been changed three times in eighteen months and the owners say "it's ok its under warranty" is it? Then have to wait two months for the parts to come in, wheels replaced at six months old.

Good to see, but they are not alone - eg Porsche have been includung a 2yr warranty on all used cars for some time.
