EPB Which Adjustment Method?

Parcelforce finally delivered my new bits and pieces, too late to do much today apart from getting everything stripped and ready for all the new bits and pieces. New calipers, discs, pads and EPB shoes. Fairly confident with everything except the fitting and adjusting of the new shoes, it's been along time since I've seen drum brakes let alone changed them!!

Anyway, has anybody used the Haynes manual method for their adjustment recently? Basically wind the shoes up to lock up the disc, dab of paint on the adjuster and wind back the adjuster until you see the dab of paint again, unscrew allen nut and tap disc to seat shoes nicely and you're good to go IN THEORY!!

Anybody tried it and had sucess? With my ageing eyesight and dodgy kness I think I'll find it easier than the 8 clicks, but won't be much good if it doesn't work!! Thanks.

I use the 8 clicks method, then apply it and listen. You can then fine tune it based on the sound. Last time it was too long so one click back and it was perfect. Thumbs Up

I wind it up till I can't turn it then back it off till it's just rubbing it's usually a full turn on the adjuster. Then do the Allen key.
I then take it for a spin a few miles and check the drums are not getting too hot.

I like the sound (no pun intended) of this method. I assume you mean the whirring noise you get when applying? I guess you can do this with wheels off and still jacked up which would make it a lot less hastle Thumbs Up
