However the curve of the lettering looks wrong against the car. No offence to A1tony but I think he has run into this too:
Is there a trick to it or should I just buy the proper Land Rover letters?

Hi,
To recap I bought some "Discovery" bonnet lettering for My D3. My old lettering was removed in preparation for this but the arc of the lettering stencil does not reflect the D3 bonnet shape. So since I have this lettering, I am thinking about making my own stencil or more likely use some fine marking tape as a guide to space the lettering and angle appropriately.
Has anyone completed this task and addressed this issue? Any tips?

Here is my results:
Use pin stripe to mark off a line 25mm up from bonnet lip. In the same way mark a vertical line 395 mm each way from the center to give the outline of a 790x 40 mm box. No need to mark a top line. The letters are about 40mm high. Make a quick template from a scrap of card to be your gap ruler. This should be 46mm (46.25mm). Use this to give the gap between each letter. I followed the footprint of the original Land Rover logo, but would consider spacing it out to the width of the inner grill if I did it again.
Note you have to cheat some of the angles with the lettering because it's not really meant for a Disco 3 but you get a good result.
I did my rear lights grill, side lights etc on Friday night (quite a party). Just a de-tango to do on visuals and I will tint the rear windows too. Car looks transformed.
