First set of fault codes read by newbie IID owner - question

Hi all,

Recieved my IID tool today and promptly plugged it in to have a play. Still haven't been able to activate it properly but thats another story..

Managed to obtain the following long list of faults which is pretty much what I expected to see. However, one interesting thing to note is the time of day that the fault has been logged(impressive).. I know for a fact that the car was not in use and was safely locked up and asleep for the times that some of these faults have been logged..? Is this normal and if so can anyone explain it to me?

i justified the purchase of the IID as I had a recent repeat suspension light/fault to investigate, which came on after a recent wade through a flooded lane. I think some water may have got into the compressor. I plan to take it off and investigate.

Anyway, any observations or comments on the codes are welcomed.

Now you have a record of them, clear them and see what comes back.

Certainly some look familiar ! Whistle False readings I hope. (e.g lost communication, seat slider, )

At this level I am no expert, but reading the list I would say the vehicle has been sat awhile and the battery has gone flat! As the gentleman above says clear the codes and start again.

Fill your profile in too - helpful to know exactly what motor you are driving. Thumbs Up

Thanks all,

As soon as my tool gets activated properly I will clear the codes and monitor.

Interestingly in the two years I have owned the car the battery has never gone flat..? I accept that the voltage could drop because it's not used every day but when I know the battery could be low due to short local trips or not used for a week I always plug it in to the ctek..

Sorry about the profile, it was filled in(has been for 2 years) but as I hadn't chosen a model year it seems it didn't show/register. All sorted now although it's actually a very early 2004 car not 2005.

In the meantime she has just wafted 7 of us up to Covent Garden in sublime comfort and no warning lights in sight! Traffic is clear in central London at 8.30am on a Sunday!

I had quite a few issues that went away when a new battery was fitted.

If the car is running well with no issues I wouldn't worry about the fault codes. However would be interesting to see which ones return after you've cleared them. Also with fewer codes to look at will be more likely to get an expert opinion.

Thumbs Up

Just clear all of them, the only ones to worry about if they show up are "P" codes, and this one you have <<<C1A20-64 (6Cool Pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure
( on 23-06-2016 11:59:38 at 102817 mi ) Wich will be your compressor for the suspension failing ?.

all the others are CAN talk and can be ignored and cleared.

Flack Thumbs Up

I thought you could clear them before activating the tool.

codes all cleared now(and tool fully activated). once i cleared them all the following came straight back up.

although i am confident these can be ignored, i'm intrigued to understand what might cause these faults to be logged? loose wires? broken wires? low voltage in the battery? Faulty sensor/ECU?

anyone understand it all?

P.S. the car ignition was on but wasn't started when these codes were cleared and read.

Do you even have an electric steering column and electric movable pedals ? Do you have a round joystick switch on the left side of the steering column ?

Maybe that option has been turned on, and therefore generated fault codes as its not actually fitted.

or the ecu's confused.

I get this one and can't get rid.

B1A56-18 (2F) Antenna circuit - General electrical failure - circuit current below threshold.

and sometimes get a seat one.

The B1A56-18 (2F) is registered on the TMC module for the GPS. it sits by the BT module in the right rear quarter panel. Looking at the TMC module it has 2 antenna connectors, only one of them are in use. The coax cable from one of the connectors goes to an antenna amplifier located in the upper tailgate. This amplifier is Red. The amp takes a 12v feed from the infotainment system and grounded to chassis. The other connector on the TCM is a "powered" connector. This connector provides power to the amplifier over Coax. like you have with cat 5 Power over Ethernet. Wel atleast this is my theory.

I have the same fault code. Im thinkin of gettin a 75Ohms resistor and fit it and see if the faultcode clears.

Faultcode B1A74-18 (6C) indicates that the heating element is broken. The usual suspect is a faulty heating element in the seat and not in the back rest. I had the same fault code and it was a burned out element. it had burned the foam too.

Look in the CCF and see if Telescoope something is set to Fitted. As you have said you dont have a knob on the steering columb, that looks just like the one that you adjust the mirrors, then this option should say Not Fitted.
