Worth seeing what temp the car sees through live data, to rule in/out ECT sensor or something further upstream like the dash gauge.

It is also controlled by the oil temp sensor, the OTS can also cause starting irregularities in winter. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The ECT is around 70 deg celcius.
Where is the oil temp sensor please ?
After I ran for some distance, when restart the engine, the temp meter go up to 90 degree and then gradually drop back to zero and never go up again. Very strange.

Accessed from underneath, on divers side (off side), your symptoms are typical of a faulty oil sensor, other symptoms would be more prevalent in winter as the engine is running on a default setting which is more suitable for worm weather. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thank you M3DPO! I ordered oil sensor now, may I ask you a favour to show me where is it located and how to replace it? I read some said need to drain oil at the same time? Thanks

No need to drain oil, loosen sensor and remove fast and whip new one in, you will lose very little oil.
I reckon your star is duff, you run engine and coolant gets to 70 but no higher as stat is stuck open, you switch off engine and as its sits heat soak allows the block to get warmer and as soon as you start it again the water pump pulls in cold water from the rad and the temperature drops again, sound feasible?

I understand the replacement of oil sensor now, will do it after receiving it.
So ECT sensor is ok , replace new oil sensor should cure the problem? If the live data shows coolant temp is 69-70, means thermostat is working fine? Thanks

No, you've got it the wrong way round, the coolant should be nearer 80, if it is only 70 the thermostat is not closing.
If the heater is not blowing hot after the engine has been running/working for 10 minutes the thermostat is faulty, usually a faulty thermostat will give a low temp reading rather than none.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Sigh... then I need to replace the thermostat too? It's a more complicated work. Btw the temp gauge does not move now. After running for a journey, stop and start engine again the temp meter will run up to horizontal and drop gradually to cold position and don't come up again.

To change the thermostat is not hard but is fiddly.
I did mine from above with the fan removed, its quite a reach to get down to the stat, I did wonder after I had finished if it could be done from below, which may be easier?

An infrared thermometer would be very useful to use if you can beg or borrow one, also very cheap to buy, simply point the thermometer at what you want the temp of and it will tell you instantly what the thermostat is doing or not doing.
The engine coolant can and will reach upto 110c when working hard, normal about 85c-90cIt can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
