Prop shaft center bearing

Hi, I'm having a vibration issue, speed (not RPM) related when under torque.
I was looking under the car at the center prop shaft bearing and the rubber seems very soft (but its there).
I can easily wiggle it around with my hand, is that normal?
BTW there was no heat shield! Thanks

The rubber itself is fairly soft and moves easily, the problem occurs when the rubber starts to Tear away from the bearing carrier then the prop shaft bangs about especially when changing gears or direction of the loads going through it, and will vibrate more easily seen when heat shield is missing or removed.

They are fairly free to move, if it's not split it should be ok. I got a new propshaft delivered today, fitting tonight!

Hi rrhool, what make did you buy?
The LR originals are €450+VAT here in Ireland!
I was thinking of removing mine and inspecting it before spending the money.
If it's OK I would just put it back.
I also notice that center bearings are also available.

Finally changed it last week, quite surprised just how notchy the joints were

I have one in the garage, was all set to put on but found that I didn't have an 11mm 12 sided socket, which holds on the prop to the rear diff.

Might have a crawl under later to make sure the one I bought fits, to avoid an emergency
visit to Halfords.

Weather permitting, this will be one of my jobs this weekend.

Must try to book a day with Geoff. in September to sort out the bits I can't manage myself or without assistance.
