Try looking at the rear prop shaft center bearing sit in a rubber bush that perishes/tears. If you can push the prop shaft up and down at the center bearing - fit a new prop shaftSeries one 1949 - in bits, chassis is strapped to the ceiling in my garage (beside the canoe)
LR 90 - In bits
Disco 3 - currently in bits

My D4 failed it's MOT on Monday and one of the issues was for the same bush being perished. Whilst I hadn't noticed any vibration (not really using it now due to working from home), it did seem smoother on the way home with a new rear prop shaft.
Now just the issue of sorting our the faint whooshing noise it seems to have picked up whilst being serviced and fixed. No wonder the garage told be I had no chance of not seeing them before next years service and MOT Andy

I have a feeling it may be something related to Gearbox fluid / Torque Converter based upon the fact that going back through the gears (Back to N then D) can help.
Hope its not for your sake, both of these can cost a fair wedge of money.

Hi fellow Yarmie. Did you get this vibration sorted?
If you aren't already aware, there is an excellent LR specialist on the Preston Farm Ind Est, over the road from the Vauxhall dealer. They mainly do BMW's, but recently hired a senior tech from the LR Stratstone outfit. Well worth a chat if you don't feel like crawling around under the car.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. It turned out to be a handbrake problem. It only did it if I had put the hand brake on then took it off to drive.

Hi, I had the same vibration after using the EPB, no vibration if it wasn’t used.
On strip down I had to replace the rear discs, pads and handbrake shoes as the heat caused during the vibration (essentially the hand brake partly stuck on) had caused a lot of damage.
Worth getting the rear brake system checked out.

Hi. I think the braking system is the problem. I have it booked for Thursday. Thanks
