Have a discovery 3, 2.7V6 and after about 20min of driving when the engine gets around 70°c
I have HDC failure special programs off and engine system fault but no engine management light and
Goes into limp mode around 20mph at most. The DTC’s I have are;
U0401-invalid data received from engine control modual - perminant
U0100-lost communication with ECM/PCM “A” - perminant
P0087-rail pressure/system pressure too low
Has had a full service recently oil and fuel and air filter.
Could it be a suspension or battery fault and does a suspension fault put the vehicle into limp mode and
Could the fuel fault be because it has gone into limp mode?
Any help much appreciated thanks in advance.

Possibly duff brake light switch, cheap and easy fix! Non OEM fuel filters can be troublesome too!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

The suspension will drop when the car goes into limp mode.
It’s looks as if you might have a fuel pump issue. You will need to do some investigation to try and identify if it’s a low pressure or a high pressure fault.
When I had the same codes and symptoms it was the high pressure fuel pump. But as I say you need further investigation to be sure.Simon.

Thanks probably should of said it was serviced with genuine land rover parts at a nice price 😳 I think
My next job it take the fuel tank off and check the strainer and pump, not had the car a month and hoping it’s not the HP pump tbh

If you changed the fuel filter it is possible to connect the pipes incorrectly

Tank removal is a bit hasty, there are a few other tests you can do to affirm pump issues before tearing the car apart. Can I suggest you might begin by filling in your profile completely, so we know what year, manual, auto, etc!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

The fuel filter is a small water trap type with no pipes to touch when replacing the filter, the service was carried out because of the fault and don’t know any service history of the vehicle so started with the basics, I believe you can test the fuel low pressure at the shrader valve but I don’t have the gauge to do it with and begrudge buying one for a single use so thought I would remove the tank and check the strainer 😂

Nope, the fuel filter is a canister type and has 4 pipes that plug into it, it's situated underneath the drivers seat on the outside of the car.
You need to replace it.
Make sure you plug all pipes up in the correct orientation.
I looked around the O/S wishbone area and couldn’t find anything the filter I changed is like this one in the picture are there always 2?

Just spoke to the local dealer and had also said this is the only filter listed for the vehicle 😳

Well I’m not 100% sure because I’m new to this, not owned one before and I’m a truck mechanic by trade.
Like I say I double checked with landrover and that is the only one listed for the vehicle so I’m thinking maybe the in tank pump is weak or the strainer is blocked and seems the cheaper option before the HP pump 😕

You can measure the flow rate at the schrader by rigging a connection to it. You are looking for 2.5 l/p/m to 3.5 l/p/m if the pump is in good shape. The lpfp will run for 20s after ign on, so you can either cycle it x 3 or just once and multiply the result x 3. The minimum acceptable is just under 2.0 l/p/m but at that reading I'd be changing the pump.
