Engine system fault
My Disco was parked at airport parking for 10 days (collected it 13th December). On my way home I noticed that the power seemed to be down. I then noticed 'Engine System Fault' on the Message Centre display. I have had a local garage (not LR Stealer) to put diags on it. His equipment failed to come up with any codes. His guess was the 'Air Flow Sensor'. For this and the diags I had the pleasure of paying £170. I took the car for a test run (just around the block) and it felt ok. The message was still being displayed. later yesterday evening I took the car for a 20 mile 70 mph run. Before I sat off the message centre had cleared. A couple of miles from home the 'Engine System Message' reappeared and the power went again. This morning started her up and no message again. Went a couple of miles and parked. Started up again and the message displayed again and the loss of power.
I am at a loss what to do next. Possibly need a garage with diags that will show the codes. Any recommendations in the Bournemouth area please.
Help please
Thanks Graham

Sounds to me like an EGR has failed or is failing.

Thanks for your suggestion.
Should that be fairly cheap to fix?
Thanks,

I had the "i" / Engine System Fault, loss of power..............Turned off then on, lasted a few weeks like that, turned out to be a Fooked Turbo, as many others on here.
BUT
The symptoms shown could be as simple as a Blocked Fuel Filter.
SO
Get it to a dealer with Autologic, or somebody with a Faultmate to read the codes, without them you could spend ££££'s just trying to chase the fault. Keeps us in the loop , and hope you get it sorted cheaply

Unlikely to be EGRs as they won't flag up a MIL on a MY06 D3

Erm.....or alternatively take it to ANY Land Rover dealer (who doesn't have Autologic or Faultmate) as their own systems will be able to correctly read the fault codes 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Just been to a local Land Rover Independent. He used the Autologic diags on it and came up with a knackered Turbo. Cost for part and to fit £1700. Just what I need before Xmas. Does it seem like a reasonable price??
Thanks,
Graham

No, afraid not. I was on my limit when I bought the car. Would have been the cheaper way as things have worked out.
The guy I went to is very good and I don't really doubt his conclusion.
Was it just loss of power when yours went. I haven't totally lost all power. I can still get up to 70+ but it has lost its go.
Thanks,
Graham

The dealers do not know what's wrong. I found out, just by trying, that it should be an error coming from the anti particulate filter. Instead of providing the message of regenerating the filter, the engine system fault message comes up. You have to perform the following procedure: drive for 20 minutes with the speed of 60-80 mph, at rpm 2500-4000. It works.
Best
