Steering rack failures/recalls
A friend has just had a failure of the steering rack retaining bolts. This was on a later Evoke. But she was told that this problem was common across the range for quite a few years. So does this effect Discoveries 3 or 4.

Don't believe there is any relation to D3/D4. Some Evoke steering motors were mounted with aluminium bolts (!?)Richard

Similar problem effects some older models of BMW and Minis, wife's Mini steering has been locked for 4 months it's had a new Car Access Module fitted £800 now needs a new steering lock which BMW will not supply without the complete column £1200. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

aren't there column emulators out there (for mini) on ebay, which mimic the lock and allow the car to start.
