I'm hoping to avoid the dealer to get a third key. Before I walk in (trousers around ankles) do I have any options?

Buy an IId tool and keys from China about £30 posted sell it on when done although you will want to keep it, word has it that an Autel AP200 diagnostic tool (£50ish) will program a new Chinese key, do a site search  It can when others can't,

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the last 2 or 3 yrs of car produced require the key module to be changed as an attempt to stop theft using the keyless feature.
This creates the barrier and cost to key production not found on pre 12MY

I had the same issue of not being able to add a key to my 2013 D4 using the GAP tool. I contacted Pat at GAP and he provided me with patch to reflash the KVM to allow me to add keys. Have since taken measures to protect the vehicle by adding a box of tricks that puts out rubbish on the CAN bus for that particular node so it cannot be accessed with the diagnostic tools (just doesn't show up). Worked out fine and the new key was a genuine LR item thst cost around £100 from that site we all know and love...
